AC Replacement & Installation
How We Calculate the Best AC System for You
Some contractors don’t understand the specifics of estimating system sizes. If they get it wrong, you’ll pay more for a system that’s too big. A too-big system will run too frequently, which causes more wear and tear and costs more overall. It will also not do a very good job of removing humidity from the air.
Wilson Plumbing & Heating uses precise measurements for calculating the right-sized system for your home. We use software to factor in how much cool air your home needs and we also configure the software to look at your insulation depth, attic space, window number, and where your home sits in relation to the sun. By using these specifics, we can know exactly how much cool air each room requires.
What Does an AC Maintenance Service Consist Of?
A new, high-efficiency air conditioner may perform up to 50% more efficiently than an older system. Newer models use refrigerants that are much friendlier to the ozone. If your system is more than eight years old, it may be wiser to spend your money on a new installation versus a repair for complex problems. We will assess the unit itself, along with the ducts and insulation, when recommending repairs or replacements.
If you live in the Akron or the Southern Cleveland area, we can install a new system that will offer:
- Better insulation: If your home is not properly insulated, your air conditioner must work extra hard to cool your home. We will look for cracks and gaps in your walls and floors and seal them as needed.
- Greater efficiency: Units installed just 8 to 10 years ago run far less efficiently than new models. The federal laws changed in 2007 to mandate higher efficiency rates.
- Improved air flow: When we replace your air conditioning unit, that’s only one part of the process. We also evaluate the efficiency of your ductwork. If your ducts are leaking, you’ll be losing cool air and paying more for it.
- Tax credits: The high-efficiency systems on the market today may qualify you for up to $300 in a federal tax credit. If you also improve your insulation, you can apply for hundreds more in tax credits.
