Why You May Need an AC Replacement
A new, high-efficiency air conditioner may perform up to 50% more efficiently than an older system. Newer models use refrigerants that are much friendlier to the ozone. If your system is more than eight years old, it may be wiser to spend your money on a new installation versus a repair for complex problems. We will assess the unit itself, along with the ducts and insulation, when recommending repairs or replacements.
If you live in the Akron or the Southern Cleveland area, we can install a new system that will offer:
- Better insulation: If your home is not properly insulated, your air conditioner must work extra hard to cool your home. We will look for cracks and gaps in your walls and floors and seal them as needed. We can show you where the addition of insulation could give you significant energy savings, which translates to more money in your pocket.
- Greater efficiency: Units installed just 8 to 10 years ago run far less efficiently than new models. The federal laws changed in 2007 to mandate higher efficiency rates. By installing a new system, you can save 30 percent or more on your energy bills.
- Improved air flow: When we replace your air conditioning unit, that’s only one part of the process. We also evaluate the efficiency of your ductwork. If your ducts are leaking, you’ll be losing cool air and paying more for it. We will run tests for air leakage and make improvements to or replace leaky ductwork.
- Tax credits: The high-efficiency systems on the market today may qualify you for up to $300 in a federal tax credit. If you also improve your insulation, you can apply for hundreds more in tax credits.
